Academic history
- 1977: Graduated in Electrical Engineering at the Graz University of Technology (Dipl.-Ing.)
- 1977 – 1981: Assistant at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the Graz University of Technology
- 1981: PhD degree with honours in Electronics
- 1981 – 1984: Siemens Design Center for Microelectronics in Villach; CMOS-circuits for telecommunications applications
- 1984 – 1985: Siemens-Opto Division in Cupertino/CA/USA, foundation of an IC design center by setting up a first IC design
project in a multicultural team
- 1985 – 1988: Leader of the "4 Megabit dynamic RAM project – product design" within the framework of the MEGA-project
of Siemens AG Munich
- 1988 – 1993: Joanneum Research, Graz: Setting up and leading the "Institute for Electronic Systems Design" with the goal to
develop electronic systems towards series production in cooperation with SMEs in Styria
- 1993 – 1998: Managing director of the Siemens Design Center for Microelectronics in Villach. Foundation and operative setup
of a second location in Graz. Markets: chip card, RFID and circuits for automotive electronics
- 1999 – 2002: Member of the Board (CTO) of austriamicrosystems AG in Unterpremstätten near Graz. Responsibility:
Technology direction & development, R&D and production. Markets: Automotive, industrial and medical applications as well as
telecommunications
- Since 2003: Independent consultant in the fields of electronics & microelectronics
- Since 2005: Nomination to university professor for Electronic Systems and head of the Institute of Electronics at the Graz
University of Technology
