Enhancement of the ship navigation component by implementing future navigation technologies.

Brief Description
The tremendous growth of transportation of people and goods in Europe requires an effective management of waterways by River Information Services (RIS) in combination with satellite-based technologies for the automation process. This technology provides value-added services which will lead to enhanced environmental protection, increased efficiency, easiness, and safety for people and goods. By implementing future navigation technologies (EGNOS and GALILEO), the integrity performance of the ship navigation component is enhanced significantly which leads to safety-related value-added services. An analysis and validation process will be performed to show that EGNOS and GALILEO, integrated into the current AIS transponder concept, meets the user and service requirements.
