Project Plan


The main tasks of the ECO-RAIL project:

  • requirements assessment: the application requirements are broken down in system requirements for a new autonomous positioning system.
  • definition of the demonstration, equipment specification as well as specification of the algorithms in order to get a safe and reliable train position
  • detailed design development and testing
  • detailed demonstration plan
  • integration of equipment and application demonstration
  • final documentation and dissemination of results

 
The suitability of the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service for use in railway control applications has been successfully demonstrated during trials held at Linz / Eferding, in Austria, in June 2005. (European Space Agency - News)

The project started in 2001 and ended in October 2005.
