Project Plan
The main tasks of the ECO-RAIL project:
- requirements assessment: the application requirements are broken down in system requirements for a new autonomous positioning system.
- definition of the demonstration, equipment specification as well as specification of the algorithms in order to get a safe and reliable train position
- detailed design development and testing
- detailed demonstration plan
- integration of equipment and application demonstration
- final documentation and dissemination of results
The suitability of the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay
Service for use in railway control applications has been successfully
demonstrated during trials held at Linz / Eferding, in Austria, in June 2005.

The project started in 2001 and ended in October 2005.
